| Uzhgorod (another spelling version -
Uzhhorod), the main city of Transcarpathian
Province (Zakarpatska oblast), is located in the
western part of Ukraine, near the borders with
Slovakia and Hungary (see the scheme at the
right). Uzhgorod is linked by railway with Kyiv,
Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Ternopil, Chernivtsi,
Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava and other cities of
Ukraine. A nearby (22 km) railway station of Chop
provides railway connection with Budapest,
Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Zagreb, Belgrade and
other European cities. Uzhhorod airport provides
only internal air routes to Kyiv. Regional Centre of
Neurology and Neurosurgery (Peremohy
Str., 24), is located 1.5 km away from the
railway and bus stations (minibuses 5, 16, and
58) and 3 km away from the airport (minibuses 8,
25, and 58) (see the schematic plan of the city).
